Edgarley Assisted Living’s multi-million-dollar redevelopment

Edgarley Assisted Living’s multi-million-dollar redevelopment project in Casterton will see a state-of-the-art and purpose-built structure completed by 2020 in the town.

Casterton’s not-for-profit and community-owned aged care facility received a $14.5m Federal Government grant under the Aged Care Approval Round in March 2016 to complete the project.

The project includes building an entirely new building across three housing blocks in Jackson street and will increase the capacity for Edgarley to provide residential aged care in Casterton by 17 beds – from 43 to 60.

The new two-and-three-storey building will take advantage of the naturally high vantage point of the Jackson Street site which overlooks the Glenelg River, and will take in some of the existing building area.

The project is expected to be completed by April 2020, with a staged approach to the works to ensure the least amount of disruption to Edgarley’s residents and its day-to-day operation.

Project work will begin with demolition of houses on the blocks in preparation for the building to begin in late 2018.
